| Our Story |
| |
Capital Glass has been doing business in the Okanagan valley for over 50 years. The company was originally started by Robert Livingstone who had moved up from the lower mainland . Bob brought his unique entrepreneur style to Penticton and opened one of the Okanagan's first full service glass shops. Originally Capital Glass was located at 161 Ellis St and remained there for over 40 years. Bob developed a great rapore with his customers and community through his business as well as his flare for unconventional marketing techniques. Whether he was riding his Penny Farthing bicycle in the Peach Festival parade or sponsoring hockey, and racing teams, Bob made sure Capital Glass was always in the forefront of our community.
Over all those years saw many employees come and go, some through natural selection, but most moved on to utilize the talents that Bob had passed on. One such employee was a young 13 year old named Mike Sproule. He worked part time at Capital Glass throughout his school years and had learnt the glass business from Bob. Mike had moved on to college and had left the glass for a number of years. Always maintaining contact with his old boss and friend. In 1986 Bob Livingstone passed away and the family decided after a few years it was time to sell the company with the hope that Capital Glass would continue on as it always had.
In 1996 Mike Sproule bought the company from the Livingstone family where he carries on the tradition of a family owned business in the South Okanagan.
Mike and younger brother Tyson still strive to maintain the same high quality of workmanship, service and community involvement. Capital Glass may have changed location, however our commitment to our trade has not.
